Qualified personal computer and network technology
specialists are in demand! Almost any company
needs Local Area Network (LAN) Administrators,
LAN Engineers, PC Repair Technicians, and Help
desk Specialists to support their systems. The
Personal Computers and Network Technology program
at the Lehigh Valley College focuses training
in these specialized areas. This program equips
the student with the knowledge, skill and experience
necessary to install, configure, troubleshoot,
and replace computer components, as well as teach
the students the most common personal computer
operating systems. Special emphasis is placed
on LAN setups, configurations, management, diagnosis,
and client/server LANs using common topologies
and protocols. The program includes training in
application software for word processing, spreadsheets,
and databases, as well as general education courses.
These general education courses are designed to
give students oral and written communication skills,
critical thinking skills, a basic understanding
of terms and philosophies, and a comprehension
of contemporary problems and issues. Students
are awarded an Associate in Specialized Technology
Degree upon successful completion of the program.
